Ware, John Kit passed December 22, 2018 in St. Louis. Son of a prominent St. Louis steel erector, John S. Ware, and Kathleen Ware, John was a true member of the Greatest Generation. Joining the USN in 1943, he was trained as a Corpsman (Ph3) and served and landed with the 1st Marine Division on Orange Beach, Pelieu, where he was a front-line combat medic. He went on to the battle of Okinawa, where he was cited for Meritorious Service under fire. A true patriot, he was called again to serve as a medic in the Korean conflict. A skilled singer, carpenter, poet and aviator, he always reached for the sky. He is survived by his spouse of 68 years, Joan, his daughter Shannon, granddaughter Elizabeth, and great-grandchildren Mona, Frederick and Octavia. You have slipped the surly bonds of earth, and topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace.
