PHOENIX — Tommye Ware, 81, formerly of Coolidge, died on Aug. 11, 2018, in Phoenix.

Mrs. Ware was born on March 14, 1937, to Myril and Alvis White in Texas and moved to Coolidge for her junior year of high school. She was student body president her senior year and went on to be an honors student at Arizona State University. After school, she held several jobs and retired from Del Webb Corporation as director of personnel after 30 years.

She was very active in the Phoenix Jaydettes. She was also a supreme softball pitcher, playing in an adult women’s league. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Diamondbacks fan but also rooted for women’s softball, basketball, figure skating and gymnastics.

Her husband of 59 years, Dick Ware, died in 2017, and she was preceded in death by two siblings, Leeida Stephens and Jack White. She is survived by her and Dick’s three adult children, Janet Ware Lucas, Kimberly Ware Wells and Richard Ware, all of Phoenix; two siblings, Hazel Jay and Bob White; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Best Funeral Services, West Valley Chapel, 9380 W. Peoria Ave. in Peoria.
