Bernice “Bea” (War)e Bodnar, 91, Washington, Pa., formerly of Liberty Towers, California, Pa., passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 in Washington Health System.
She was born August 11, 1926 in Clarksburg, West Virginia the daughter of the late Oral and Mamie (Criss) Ware.
Mrs. Bodnar was a 1944 graduate of Brownsville High School.
A homemaker, Bea and her husband also owned and operated Bodnar’s Service in Centerville and Low Hill, Pa., for over 28 years.
She was a 67-year Charter Member of the Centerville American Legion Auxiliary established in 1951, a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church Brownsville for over 50 years, and a member of the Beth Center Senior Citizens where she was the Dartball Team Scorekeeper.
Mrs. Bodnar enjoyed puzzles of all kinds including crossword, Sudoku and jigsaw, loved bingo and sewing making clothes for the whole family, enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers. Going to casinos brought her special enjoyment.
Since 1972 she led the annual family Christmas shopping trip to Greensburg, Pa.
On July 30, 1947 she married Andy Bodnar Jr. He died June 23, 2007.
Surviving are four children: Joyce Geary (Charles) of Sun City, Florida, Candace Radel (Barry) of Washington, Pa., Nancy Wright (Thomas) of Sycamore, Pa., Paul Bodnar (Rose) of Carmichaels, Pa; three grandchildren: Kristy Bodnar (J. C. Elish), Erran Wright and Wesley Wright (Karlie); and two great grandchildren: Makenzie Halydena and Bryce Elish.
Deceased in addition to her parents and husband is a son, Terry Andy Bodnar, who died on December 24, 1977.
Honoring her request, Funeral Services are private and burial in Westland Cemetery will be private for the family.
