“OKOLONA Willie “Sporty” Ware, Sr., 85 died May 9,1992 at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was a native of Chickasaw County. He was a retired farmer and a member Palestine M. B. Church Van Vleet.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 16 at Union Baptist M. B. Church with Dr. Vernon Swift officiating. Burial will be in Palestine M. B. Church Cemetery in Van Vleet. Carter’s Funeral Home of Okolona is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife,Christine M. Ware of Okolona;seven daughters,Cleoteria Cooperwood of Chicago, Anne Moore of Rockaway Beach, N. Y., Fannie Walker of Buffalo, N. Y., Juanita Ashford of New York City, N. Y., Josephine Swift of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Pearl Ivy of Pontotoc and Earline Owens of Tupelo;six sons,Reese Ware of Cape Girardeau,MO.,Hamp Ware of Chicago, Robert Ware of Milwaukee, Wis.,Willie Ware, Jr. and Claudie Ware, both of Grand Rapids, Mich.,and Johnnie L. Ware of Okolona; two sisters, Sadie W. McPherson of Okolona and Ethel Williams of Chicago; 45 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.”
