Mary Ware, long time Oregon resident died Sunday, January 24, 2010, of esophageal cancer. She was born in Long Beach, California, on June 1, 1928, and grew up in the Portland area. She eventually moved to Warren, Oregon, in 1976 where she lived until her death. During her years living in Columbia County, Mary was Vice President of the Scappoose Senior Center Gleaners in the late 1980s. She was also an avid quilter, and won the Grand Champion ribbon at the Columbia County Fair in the late 1980s. Her biggest passion in life was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She will be deeply missed by all. Mary is survived by daughter Danny Hayes and son-in-law David Hayes of Warren, son David Ware and daughter-in-law Connie Ware of Portland, grandchildren Melissa Liston of Scappoose, Brendal Ware, Daniel Ware, and Sarah Swafford of Gladstone, Doug and Lindy Hayes of Redland, and great-grandchildren Brynn Ware and Taylor and Allie Hayes.
