Shelia D. Ware Hardnett Obituary, 2001

ROANOKE, Ala. — Mrs. Sheila D. (Ware) Hardnett, 42, of Roanoke died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Roanoke with the Rev. R.L. Heflin officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Bacon Level community in Roanoke. Mrs. Hardnett is survived by her husband, Charles Hardnett of Wadley, Ala.; her daughter, Skylar Hardnett of Roanoke; her parents, Edward and Earnestine Ware of the Bacon Level community; four brothers, Dennis (Judy) Ware of Conyers, Ga., Eddy (Sandra) Ware of Roanoke, Dwight (Margaret) Ware of Charleston, S.C., and the Rev. Eric (Shelia) Ware of Carrollton, Ga.; and several other nieces, nephews and other relatives. Born Dec. 3, 1959, Mrs. Hardnett was a native of Randolph County where she attended public schools, graduating from Randolph County High School in Wedowee, Ala. Mrs. Ware was a loyal and devoted life-long member of Friendship Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board and was active in numerous other capacities in the church until her death. She was a graduate of LaGrange College and later earned her master’s degree from Auburn University in the fields of educational psychology, and in specific learning disabilities. She worked for several years in the education field in Warm Springs, Ga., later returning home to Randolph County. At the time of her passing, Mrs. Hardnett was employed as a substitute teacher for Roanoke City Schools. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha national service sorority, and past chairwoman of the Randolph County, Alabama Chapter of the Alabama Democratic Conference. The family will receive friends Monday, Dec. 17 after 10 a.m. at Clark Memorial Funeral Service in Roanoke. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service Tuesday. Clark Memorial Funeral Service in Roanoke is handling arrangements.
